The bane of internet marketers everywhere is traffic, or more correctly the lack of it. Of course SEO practices loom large in the equation, but good SEO alone is not enough to generate significant amounts of it to really make a difference.
It has to be used in tandem with social media and maybe even paid advertising, to bring up your traffic to the point where might you begin to develop some real paying customers.
Can I Get More Website Traffic ?
You know the easiest way to dramatically increase your readership? Well it’s really simple, it’s the quality and the quantity of your content.
Google has recently radically changed their algorithm and according to SEO experts, everything now seems to be focused mainly on quality and informative content. It’s about time don’t you think?
Way back when, the search engines recognized that individual websites were attempting to sway results (and their corresponding rankings), by the use of keyword stuffing, which was the practice of repeating title keywords within a post as often as they believed they could get away with it.
It actually worked for a while until they cracked down on the practice and new criteria was introduced. Today keyword stuffing is no longer tolerated, and if it is picked up your rankings will take a big hit.
Getting The Search Engines To Pay Attention To You
The sophistication of algorithm’s has come a long way since then, and as technology has advanced so have they. The bots are now able to read your content almost as a human might, and they seem to know the difference between content for contents sake and real researched information that would be beneficial and worthwhile for a website visitor to read.
That’s not to say that you should give less consideration to time honored SEO practices. It’s still very important to pay attention to things like descriptions within Alt Tags. They are designed to make it easier for the likes of Google to navigate your site, very important but things are definitely changing.
Easy to say, but all things being equal between competing sites, including accurate insertion of keywords and relevant and readable information, then it will come down to the sheer amount of individual content within the site.
Your mindset, it seems to me, should be that of a traditional newspaper journalist who lives or dies by the accuracy and sheer readability of his or her output. In addition journalists have deadlines to meet, and if an editor requires 1500 words at short notice from a reporter, they will oblige. They are professionals.
Implementing your own deadlines and being somewhat tough on yourself to meet them may be the best way to ensure a smooth and relevant flow of content and to be finally considered an expert within your niche. Publishing on a daily basis should probably be your goal, but again, only if it appears natural and if it educates and informs. Streams of consciousness type writing for the sake of meeting a target date should be avoided at all costs. No relevance, no ranking.
What If You Are Unable To Publish Daily
It’s only a goal, but for some, (me included) it’s never really been a possibility. I publish as often as I can and shoot for several times a week. Don’t always achieve it because sometimes life and other stuff just gets in the way, but I try and try hard.
Whatever your own frequency of publishing may be, make it reliable. If it’s 3 times a week, it’s important that you stick to it. Always remember, and remind yourself that you are a writer, and writers have obligations to their audiences. Keeping your head down and consistently coming up with fresh content will be eventually rewarded.
Research To Find New Content
Totally immersing yourself in your niche will pay huge dividends when it comes to finding new content for your posts. Google questions about your field of endeavour, read as many articles as you can, and make notes. On an ongoing basis It should be a joy to discover and learn all you can about it. If it isn’t, then the niche you selected is not the one for you.
It’s amazing how much new information there is out there that you were previously unaware of. You’ll get a new slant on things, things that you will be able to write new authoritative posts about.
Stay Focused And Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
Affiliate marketing, will demand your rapt attention. Publishing procedures are in a constant state of flux and you have to keep up.
Writing to a deadline does get easier with time, the more you do it the easier it gets.
It would be so nice not to have to worry about keywords, and to write naturally about anything and everything but that’s just not the way it is.
Website traffic is cumulative, once it starts to trickle in your direction it will increase in its intensity just so long as you keep writing new, helpful and informative posts that people want to read.
Keeping Ahead Of SEO
How will you know when the search engines change their criteria and when new algorithm’s evolve and gradually replace the old ones.
It’s rumour and speculation for the most part, nobody really knows, but SEO experts can detect subtle changes in their own businesses traffic patterns and then attribute that to newly implemented rules. It’s almost like a cat and mouse game.
Joining forums is one method of attempting to keep up to date but the best of all, (if you are not a member already) would be to join Wealthy Affiliate, the world’s premiere affiliate marketing organization.
It’s an association of approaching 1 million members. It has classrooms in every affiliate and internet marketing discipline and it’s the very best place to be for any marketer attempting to stay on top of SEO and be one step ahead of the game.
In keeping with many websites it has both a free and a premium membership. I eventually became a premium member and honestly, I would be lost without this organization’s uncanny ability to provide constantly updated and accurate information pertinent to the running of my business.
I have an online review of Wealthy Affiliate that I would advise you to check out.
